The discussion about commercial vehicles parked at homes continues nd remains undecided. This came about from a conversation I had with the young son of a co-worker who worried he might lose his job in the future. Maybe things won’t go this way.
For want of a car

Congratulations

Collingwood hired a new CAO, a skilled and competent woman. Congratulations to her. Wonder if she knows what sort of mess she’s stepping in? How long before she and the mayor butt heads? Who will she side with when the mayor gets all cranky and starts dumping on council? Or one councillor in particular?

Private school funding – lots of questions
July 11, 2009 · 4 Comments
This town is an angry hornet’s nest over the local private school getting money from the government. People ask why our tax dollars are going into a private enterprise for a project local people then have to pay to use. If our tax dollars are being used then the taxpayers should have the right to use it for free. Words like elitist are being tossed around.
What really has people steamed is that the town endorsed the application. They are also pissed because the town applied for funding for other projects for public facilities like the ice rink roof and fixing up Heritage park, but didn’t get any money for them. But a private school gets the dough.
The downtown rebuild got money, lots of it. But people are asking how come it got money and not the ice rink roof? Or Heritage park?
Rumors run rampant about the applications. Everyone’s asking was there political interference? Did someone demand the downtown project get placed at the top of the pile and the rest at the bottom? Was the Pretty River school project approved because of a link to one or more council politicians? Or a link between the mysterious private donor and the MP?
The big questions: who authorized the endorsement? Why? Who is the private sponsor? What relationship does he have with town politicians? Or with our MP? Why didn’t our rink and park get any money? Did someone make a call to get the downtown project bumped up and the rest shelved?
But so far, no big answers.

Something missing from the apology?
July 4, 2009 · 1 Comment
Did I miss something, Monday? I heard Martin Kazmir give his apology. Rather courageous of him, I thought. Humble, too. Must have been tough. But I didn’t hear anyone at the table say “thanks, we accept your apology.” Those new microphones not working properly?
Maybe the sound of crunching chips and slurping beer at home was too loud and I missed it. Surely the mayor said thank you and accepted the apology on behalf of the town. Tell me my hearing’s bad. Tell me he did the right thing. For once.

The AGM
June 28, 2009 · 2 Comments
Sure, it’s old news. I know that. But this is where I got started. I first wrote a comment about this in another blog I started, but deleted it. Just was not funny and way too long. Leave the wordy stuff for others. They do it better. Decided to revive it and put this together because I was running out of other things to say.

The mail robot
June 24, 2009 · 2 Comments
Two robots discuss their work with Collingwood Council.
Been trying to cope with some changes in my job. The software to make movies has changed. Monday’s meeting screamed for a comment. Couldn’t resist making this clip. Will try to get back on track next week.
Hope the Admiral comes back soon.

Slow and steady
May 23, 2009 · 1 Comment
I apologise. I was building this site slowly. Someone found it sooner than I expected and it became public.
I can’t get at it very often during the week because of work and travel. I have to attend meetings out of town, often several days in a row, even some weekends. Over the last few weeks I have been gone more than I’ve been here.
It takes me a while to figure things out. I have not had time to learn the WordPress package very well. I’m taking some time off in June. I will study it then, when family demands allow.
I will try get to more of online soon. I have released a few more videos from the collection for your entertainment. I have to watch the rest again, to make sure they’re not miscontrued. They are meant to be satire.
Be patient.

We were wrong. Will he forgive us next time?
Will he run again?
